POCATELO — Health West is pleased to announce construction will soon be underway on a new pharmacy located inside Health West Pocatello, 1000 N 8th Ave. The new pharmacy is expected to open later this spring and will offer all the services patients enjoy at other Health West pharmacies, including:
- In-house pharmacy: With an in-house pharmacy, patients can pick up their prescriptions immediately after their appointment or come in later to pick up refills.
- Medication counseling: Health West pharmacists are available to discuss medications with patients and their provider in support of a team approach to healthcare.
- Home delivery: Health West offers mail order options so patients can save a trip to the pharmacy and receive their medications at their front door.
- Prescription management app: Health West pharmacies offer an app where patients can easily manage their prescriptions, initiate transfers, track their prescription’s progress or chat with a pharmacist.
- Sliding scale program: Patients will be able to apply for Health West’s sliding scale program which reduces the cost of prescription medications and medical care based on a person’s household size and income. These discounts can also be applied after insurance, including Medicare.
“Health West is committed to providing exceptional patient care and improving the health and well-being of the communities we serve,” said Health West Chief Executive Officer, Mindy Benedetti. “We look forward to expanding our service options with a pharmacy in the heart of Pocatello.”
The on-site pharmacy will allow for collaboration between a patient’s pharmacist and provider to determine the correct prescription and to educate patients about proper use of their medications. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, pharmacists are an often over-looked, yet critical contributor to improvements in public health. Several bodies of research have demonstrated improved patient outcomes and reduced treatment costs as a result of collaboration with pharmacists.
“Pharmacies are vital community resources that are critical to improving patient outcomes,” said Health West Director of Pharmacy, Brady Brower. “We are excited to offer this critical service to the Pocatello community.”
