Health West welcomes Spencer Esplin to Montpelier

Health West is pleased to announce the arrival of its newest provider, Spencer Esplin, PA-C, at its Montpelier location. Esplin brings a variety of experience and a compassionate approach to patient care that will enhance the quality healthcare patients have come to expect from Health West.

With an educational approach to healthcare, Esplin is committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care. He works closely with patients to develop personalized treatment plans that address their unique needs and goals.

“I’m really big on education.” Esplin said. “I like to take the time to explain what I think is going on and my thought process so they can be as informed as possible, so they can make informed decisions.”

Esplin believes patient understanding and compassion will lead to better health outcomes for his patients.

“I think the most important quality for a healthcare provider is compassion,” Esplin said. “I want my patients to [know] that I actually care about their health, and I want them to have a strong understanding of what’s going on and what the plan is.”

Originally from Firth, ID, Esplin is passionate about rural communities and their health. He knew from a young age that he wanted to go into healthcare.

“I had a teacher in high school who was really motivating for me,” Esplin said. “He kind of started the fire for me.”

Esplin graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho with a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and from Idaho State University with a Master of Physician Assistant Studies. He has gathered experience in several areas of healthcare, including orthopedics and cancer research. He has fallen in love with the Montpelier area and is excited to get to know the people and become a part of the community.

“It feels really similar to where I grew up,” Esplin said of Montpelier. “There’s not a whole lot of resources in this area, so it’s good to get to care for people who live around here and don’t have a lot of options.”

In his free time, Esplin enjoys spending time with his growing family, hiking, camping, fishing, biking and spending time on the water.

“The most rewarding part of my job is making a positive difference in the health of my patients,” Esplin said. “Whether it’s helping them with pain or giving them the quality of life they want, that’s what’s satisfying.”
